The Director, Legal & Governance will play a pivotal role in the leadership of the Council, providing strategic advice, building strong relationships with members and senior colleagues, and helping to shape an organisation that is ambitious, well-governed and focused on delivering for residents. Beyond your statutory responsibilities as Monitoring Officer, you will be a visible and influential leader, developing talented teams, championing collaboration and driving continuous improvement across the organisation. Leading our Joint Legal Team also offers a unique opportunity to work across all six Berkshire unitary authorities, extending your impact well beyond Reading and helping to shape legal services on a regional scale.
The Director of Digital & IT will be the Council’s Chief Digital and Information Officer, harnessing the full potential of digital, data and technology to deliver on our strategic and operational priorities. This is a pivotal corporate leadership role, responsible for driving digital transformation across the Council and ensuring technology is used creatively, effectively and securely to improve services and outcomes. You will champion a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement, building the organisational capability needed to meet future challenges and opportunities.
Whoever takes on these roles will need to be assured in their technical insight and knowledge. But it’s equally important that they can appreciate perspectives beyond their professional lens and can collaborate with others to map out the best way to deliver on outcomes.
